About Me

Hi. Welcome to A Mama's Muse. I'm Makala, a kinda crunchy, small-town Southern girl from Arkansas. I met my husband, Bradley, at Harding University when we were both playing basketball. We have two beautiful baby girls, Olivia & Havyn. We have one fur baby, Nova. We are a coaching family. Basketball is in our blood. Being a coaching family has come with many job changes & moves over the past 5 years. We finally feel like we have found the area we want to put down roots and raise our family, Lord willing. I love Jesus, a good record, coffee, farmhouse decor, vintage markets, anything written by Jane Austen or Emily Bronte, and being held in the arms of my good loving man. Even though our story is totally different in so many ways, I long to have that Johnny and June kinda love.

I created this small blog after my husband and I got married in August 2013. My initial purpose for my blog was to document our first year of marriage for a scrap book gift for our 1 year anniversary. It quickly turned into my safe haven. Where I felt comfortable speaking the words of my heart. The words that eat at you until you write them down just to get them out. I enjoyed it so much that I kept writing and now here we are. It might not be the most beautiful blog you've ever seen but it's honest, real, and raw.

It was time for a new look and just a whole new vision for my blog. After becoming a mother nearly two years ago, my life and outlook on life completely changed. Things that I had once loved or felt so passionately about suddenly did not seem so important anymore. When that brown-eyed baby girl was placed in my arms for the first time, it clicked. That was it. MY muse. To be a mother. My source of inspiration. It was something that I had dreamed of since I was a little girl but never in a million years did I think it would have such a consuming hold and empowerment over me. I'm so happy you're here and I hope you feel inspired as you follow along.
